„Superfly was Düsseldorf, somehow, in the 90s.
Not only I bought my first house and techno records from Andy (Andry Nalin) at the Geo Records Shop, I also used to dance my ass off sundays at Ratinger Hof, wich was his residency at that time.
Marc Spoon was the one who took me to DC 10 for the first time.
Phil, Moguai, Gordon, Yogi van Bellen are my homie’s.
There are so many memories and it's not easy to put them in few words.
"Stella" and "Open Your Eyes" were huge hits in our area and as booking agent in my early days I had a lot to do with many of Superfly guys.
Glad to see that the story continues.

Back then i worked for Jive Records as an A&R. We loved the Nalin & Kane stuff and always wanted a remix, but they always turned me down as they were too busy. But i still love them.

Superfly Records wurde 1995 von Andry Nalin und Harry Kane gegründet. Nach ihren ersten Veröffentlichungen bei diversen Plattenfirmen in den Jahren 1993 bis 1995, suchten die beiden eine Plattform um ihr Projekt Nalin & Kane voranzutreiben. Somit folgte bald der logische Schritt zu einem eigenen Label.
Bereits die Katalognummer 10.005 verhalf Superfly Records zum internationalen Durchbruch. Der im Dezember 1996 veröffentlichte Titel „Beachball“ erstürmte, nachdem er monatelang von allen internationalen DJ-Größen supportet wurde, innerhalb eines Jahres die Top 10 fast sämtlicher Verkaufscharts weltweit. Die dadurch entstandene Aufmerksamkeit konnte man nutzen, um auch anderen Künstlern eine starke Präsenz im internationalen Musikgeschäft zu bieten. In den folgenden Jahren feierten unter anderem van Bellen, Phil Fuldner, Moguai, Bush II Bush, Copa Move oder DJ Gordon große Erfolge auf Superfly Records und starteten zum Teil von dort ihre Karriere.
Die Vinyl-Veröffentlichungen musikgeschichtlicher Meilensteine wie Frankie Goes To Hollywood: „Welcome To The Pleasuredome“ oder Jam & Spoon: „Stella“ im Nalin & Kane Remix unterstrichen den Kultstatus des Labels und katapultierten das Remixer Duo spätestens im Jahr 2001 in die erste Reihe der elektronischen Producer-Szene.
Mit Einzug der Electrohousewelle und Überschwemmung der Clublandschaft mit unausgegorenen Ghostwriter-Produktionen, entstand ein Desinteresse, in diesem Fahrwasser mit zu schwimmen – daraus resultierend wurde der laufende Betrieb des Labels im Jahr 2006 eingestellt.
In dieser schöpferischen Pause wurde neue Kraft getankt und die Lust auf kreatives Arbeiten zurück gewonnen. Deshalb hat sich Superfly Records im Sommer 2009 mit einem neuem Team reorganisiert und wird, zunächst mit einer digitalen Classic-Compilation, zum Herbst/Winter ein Relaunch des Labels durchführen. Es werden zeitnah auch neue Veröffentlichungen folgen!
The Story (english version)
Superfly Records was founded in 1995 by Andry Nalin and Harry Kane. After publishing with various record companies in the years from 1993 to 1995, they set out to launch their project Nalin & Kane. Therefore the next stage, their own label, followed soon. Already the catalogue number 10.005 helped Superfly Records attain international breakthrough.
With strong support from internationally renowned DJs, the December 1999 single “Beachball” rushed within one year to the top ten of sales charts worldwide. They used the attention gained to help other artists establish a strong presence in the international music business. During the following years, among others Van Bellen, Phil Fuldner, Moguai, Bush II Bush, Copa Move or DJ Gordon celebrated great successes on Superfly Records. Some of them started their career there.
The vinyl-publications of milestones of musical history such as Frankie Goes To Hollywood: "Welcome To The Pleasuredome" or Jam & Spoon: "Stella" in the Nalin & Kane Remix underlined the label’s cult status. Thus, the remix duo had been catapulted to the top of the electronic producers’ community by 2001.
When electronic house flooded the club scene with callow ghost writers’ productions, they felt reluctant to float with the current – as a result, the label was closed in 2006. The team used this creative break to win new energy and rediscover their urge for innovation.
Therefore in the summer of 2009, SR reorganised with a new team. For the autumn and winter season, they will relaunch the label first with a digital Classic-Compilation. There will be new publications in due course!
